Reglès de bonne conduite pour visiter Estérel Côte d'Azur

In Estérel Côte d'Azur, our breathtaking scenery, unique activities, original events, unusual breaks and captivating atmosphere are our greatest source of pride!

However, behind this sublime destination lies a fragile ecosystem that requires our utmost care and protection. That's why it's imperative that you behave responsibly and practise slow tourism when you come to visit us.

Don't know what to do? Don't panic, here are our rules of good conduct for preserving and protecting our natural jewel!

  • No fires: smoking, fires or barbecues are prohibited in the Esterel massif.
  • Waste management: do not leave any rubbish or litter after your hike. Rubbish bins are available at most of the trailheads.
  • Stay on the marked trails: make sure you stay on the marked trails to avoid accidents, getting lost or damaging natural areas. Find all our walking, mountain biking and cycling routes on our Circuits website.
  • Protect the flora: plant species are essential to the balance of biodiversity, and although it's tempting to make pretty bouquets, flowers should not be picked.
  • Protect wildlife: you may be lucky enough to spot a few animals during your walk. If you do, be discreet and keep away from them to avoid frightening them. As wild animals, we strongly advise against feeding them any kind of food, as this can damage their health and disrupt their natural behaviour.
  • Use environmentally-friendly means of transport: you can reach our destination by public transport (train, bus, car-sharing), and once you're here, take the local bus routes, get around by bike or discover the treasures of the Esterel by train!
  • Stay in an eco-responsible way: Estérel Côte d'Azur offers you a wide selection of environmentally-friendly accommodation that holds an environmental and eco-responsible label, a symbol of their commitment: Clef verte, European ecolabel or Accueil Vélo.
  • Do e-tourism: use digital media rather than paper! You can easily download all the destination's brochures and guides, book your activities online and explore the hiking routes on our circuits website.
  • Respect private property: private reserves or properties are all indicated by a sign. It is therefore forbidden to enter them without permission.

Now all you have to do is find the perfect itinerary on our tour site and set off to enjoy the unique landscapes and trails of the Esterel massif.

  • Protecting the marine ecosystem: starfish, corals, molluscs and shellfish must live in the sea, where they play a crucial role in the functioning of the marine ecosystem. Removing them from their environment would therefore cause a significant loss to marine biodiversity.
  • Choose a beach with a "Blue Flag" label: these are beaches with environmentally-friendly facilities that aim to minimise the impact of tourist numbers. For Blue Flag beaches in Saint-Raphaël, click here.
  • Adopt sustainable alternatives: prefer water bottles to plastic bottles and use cloth bags and towels. For cigarette butts, use a pocket ashtray (available from Saint-Raphaël Town Hall).
  • Be careful with your rubbish: don't leave anything in the sand! Reduce your rubbish, sort it and use the appropriate bins or take it home with you. Take a rubbish bag with you when you go to the beach or out to sea.
  • Limit the use of beach showers: it's best not to use shampoos or shower gels that can pollute the water.
  • Use eco-friendly sun creams: choose products that respect the seabed, are environmentally friendly and do not use chemical filters.
  • Practice sustainable fishing: comply with regulations on the timing, variety and size of fish to preserve marine biodiversity. Use fishing methods that consume little energy, preserve the seabed and better protect fish species.
  • Get involved in protecting the environment: take part in operations to save the coastline, such as World Cleanup Day in September.
