What is water walking?
Water walking is a sport that originated in 2005 on the coast of northern France, in the Pas-de-Calais region. Developed by Thomas Wallyn, a professional rowing coach looking for a gentle muscle-strengthening activity, water walking involves walking in an aquatic environment along the coast with the water level at chest level. Generally practised in groups on sandy beaches with no major obstacles, it has become increasingly popular along the French coast over the years. The sport can also be practised at a high level, with championships organised by the Fédération Française de la Randonnée Pédestre.
Benefits
Water walking has many health benefits, including improving blood circulation and cardiovascular system, strengthening the immune system and reducing stress. Although it works on the muscles of the upper and lower body, it is still a gentle and relaxing sport. The natural environment in which it is practiced and team spirit contribute positively to mental well-being.
How to practice it?
To practice the water walking, it is essential to:
1 - Walk over a permitted area
Choose an authorized and monitored area that you can find on the FFRandonnée website.
2 -Equip and protect

3 - Adopt the right behaviour
.Adapt your outfit to the weather with a wetsuit for colder weather and sun protection when the sun comes.
4 - Longer in safety
Check the weather before you leave and do not do this activity if the sea is too rough.
5 - Respect our environment
Protect our environment by leaving it as you found it when you collected your waste.
