Saint-Raphaël
An artistic trail through the town
With the launch in June 2019 of the first "Résonances Urbaines" festival, Saint-Raphaël has inaugurated a route dedicated to urban art, made up of works by artists from diverse backgrounds, bearing witness to the variety of this movement. The event turned the town into a unique exhibition space. Today, the "Move in Silence" association, which organises the "M.U.R." in Saint-Raphaël, has set up its own "Open Sky Museum" like other major tourist cities (Berlin, Paris, Sète and Bordeaux). More than 300 m² of walls decorated in street art style await you for a fun and curious stroll, from the historic centre to the beach, via the pedestrianised shopping areas.
More than 30 works have already been created, turning the town of Saint-Raphaël into a veritable open-air museum.
These 300 m² of selected walls present works by LOKISS, BROK, AKHINE, SOKLAK, ABES, MEPHISTO, Sandrine LORENZO, up to the stencils made on the terrace of the Cultural Centre by the students of the "Plastic Arts" section of the Saint-Exupéry high school. While waiting to relive the festival, you can find in Saint-Raphaël, 8 works of urban art made in 2019 as part of the first edition of "urban resonances". Stroll through the city with a different eye, as you explore this real "open-air museum" !

DiscoverFréjus
A fresco combining art and technology
Work on "Fréjus l'Intrépide" began on Monday 4 March and is expected to last around eight weeks. During this period, local residents and visitors are encouraged to follow the progress of this monumental work, which will enrich the artistic heritage of Fréjus.
Created by César Malfi, the "Fréjus l'Intrépide" fresco will be more than just a static work of art, it will offer an unprecedented immersive experience. With its impressive dimensions of 120 metres long and 12 metres high, it will be the second largest fresco in France. Located on the Caquet hangar at the Base Nature, one of the Côte d'Azur's major tourist attractions, it will be a breathtaking spectacle for all who see it.
This ambitious project not only pushes back the frontiers of urban art, but also incorporates cutting-edge technologies to enhance the experience. The fresco will be equipped with augmented reality, offering total immersion in the creative universe of César Malfi. This unique fusion of traditional art and modern technology promises to captivate and inspire a wide audience.
César Malfi: the creator of this monumental work
César Malfi, steeped in his Mediterranean environment, creates works that challenge the norm. Influenced by his Italian origins, his travels and his studies, he shares his artistic vision with his friends. His talents lead him to 'make the wall', decorating walls with his interactive creations that engage the community. His works become the vibrant heart of the city, spreading a universal message and inviting dialogue between different geographical areas, different cultures and different people.
A promotion for the town of Fréjus
César Malfi's inspiration for the fresco? The history and cultural richness of the town of Fréjus. That's why he chose to depict :
- Napoleon, who landed in Fréjus in 1799 on his return from Egypt.
- Julius Caesar, one of the town's founders.
- Jean Cocteau, who designed the Notre Dame de Jérusalem chapel.
- Roland Garros, who flew from Fréjus on his first crossing of the Mediterranean in 1913.
The main aim of this work is to highlight Fréjus' rich historical and cultural heritage, while reflecting its contemporary dynamism. In addition, the fresco is sure to become a major tourist attraction, an emblematic symbol and a testament to Fréjus' commitment to local culture and immersive urban art.
