Corniche d'Or (Golden Corniche)
The Corniche d'Or, or Corniche de l'Estérel, was inaugurated in 1903 at the instigation of the Touring Club de France. This magnificent road bordered by the turquoise Mediterranean waters and the red rocks of the Estérel massif links Saint-Raphaël to Cannes.
What's that ?
Bordered by the clearest waters of the department, the Corniche d´Or connects the Var and the Maritime Alps for 30 km, along the sea and overlooking the creeks.
A bit of history:
Completed in 1903, this route was taken by the Romans over 2,000 years ago!
At the start of the 20th century, new issues came into play: the advent of tourism and the great beginnings of the automobile. To respond, a new route was therefore created to the delight of tourists and residents.
With the path presenting excellent prospects for both departments, President Abdel Ballif of the Touring Club de France will launch into the business, which will be joined by a large number of local residents.
Did you know?
The name La Corniche d'Or was given thanks to the golden aspects of the rocks overlooking it.
The Corniche d´Or is ideal for lovers of driving and magnificent landscapes. Take your time to admire the panorama and its flamboyant colors!
