Archaelogical museum in Fréjus
The Museum hosts temporary exhibitions presenting the results of excavations at historic sites. It is home to the Hermès Bicéphale, a bust that has become Fréjus' emblem.
Made of white marble, inspired by the archaic Greek style (early 5th century BC) and probably dating from the High Roman Empire (1st century AD), it was discovered in 1970 in Fréjus during archaeological excavations in the Clos de la Tour district, on the site of a Roman house. Heir to the hermes-borne, this bust combines two crowned deities.

Displayed in a group of remarkable buildings (13th century flour mill, 17th century oil mill) and grouped by trade: viticulture, cabinet making, perfumery, bouchonnerie, shoemaking, glass-blowing, olive cultivation..., you can discover or rediscover tools and agricultural machinery but also everyday objects.
