The assets of Saint-Raphaël
Its best assets are the sea, the mild climate, the sun, the extent and richness of its natural heritage and its different leisure activities throughout the year. It is therefore in turn: France Nautical Station, Diving Station, Golf Station, Esterel Station or Game City, but also Business Tourism City with its Palais des Congrès and a city of celebrations and events. The city of light retains from its prestigious past sumptuous villas (late 19th and early 20th century), narrow shopping streets and a beautiful seafront.
A city with many facets!
The city of Saint-Raphaël, whose city centre is by the sea, is divided into different districts, real tourist sites that all have their characteristics: the old city, the city centre, the harbours, Valescure, Boulouris, Le Dramont, Agay, Anthéor and Le Trayas. Discover below each of these unique places at the foot of the Esterel.
Agay
Well sheltered between Cap Dramont and Pointe de la Baumette, the Agay harbour is a natural gateway to the Esterel massif.
Its configuration makes it a very popular place for sailors (Agay also means "favourable" in Greek). You will enjoy its three fine sandy beaches, the summit of Rastel and its red rocks, overlooking the bay and offering a breathtaking panorama.
City centre, old town and old harbour
First of all, you have to discover the narrow and shaded streets of the old town that were called the "village district". It was the peasants' one. There is also a daily market with flowers and vegetables that is typically Provençal. Visit the church of San Raféu (also called the church of the Templars or Saint-Pierre), dating from the 12th century and enlarged in the 18th century, whose presbytery houses the archaeological museum. Then, from the top of the watchtower (13th century), enjoy the magnificient panoramic view of the bay.
The Corniche d'Or
The Corniche d'Or is a 40 km long road, iconic on the French Riviera. Passing through the Esterel massif, it offers those who follows it extraordinary landscapes. In the shade of the umbrella pines you will walk along the famous rocks of the Esterel with a breathtaking view of the turquoise of the Mediterranean Sea.
DiscoverAnthéor
Anthéor is a magnificent seaside district. The viaduct, which overlooks it, is an exceptional testimony to the past. Many hikes start from this point and climb towards Cap Roux, the symbol of the Esterel...
DiscoverBoulouris
Once called "Boulerie" or "jeu de boules", this highly appreciated residential area has a train station, shops and decentralized town hall services.
Valescure
Valescure is a district of Saint-Raphaël where sumptuous villas and luxury hotels alternate. But its real splendour lies in its golf courses.
Santa Lucia
Santa Lucia is the third largest marina on the French Riviera. it is within walking distance from the city centre of Saint-Raphaël. It is an ideal starting point for the Mediterranean coasts, Corsica, Italy.
Le Trayas
Le Trayas is a district of Saint-Raphaël located just before Théoule-sur-Mer, halfway between the Esterel massif and the Mediterranean. The Corniche d'or crosses this small village with a magnificent view of the sea!
