Tourrettes was the birthplace of two great men:
Jacques-Alexandre Fabre (1782-1844), a famous polytechnician, "lent" by Napoleon I to the Russian tsar to build large road structures that testify to French know-how in bridges and pavements.
Joseph Marius Alexis Aubin (1802-1891), a renowned Americanist who devoted himself to deciphering the figurative writing of the ancient Mexicans.
The village is also proud of the worldwide prestige of the International Gliding Centre in Fayence - Tourrettes, the first in Europe, which allows enthusiasts of this sport to fly all year round in French Riviera and in the most favourable weather conditions.
The « open-air museum », unique in the Var, offers a magnificent and unusual discovery of the "village where artists coat the old stones".
