Valescure Golf Course

Created in 1895 by British aristocrats, the Valescure Golf Course, surrounded by parasol pines, is the oldest course in Var and the fifth oldest in France.

Description

D'une longueur de 5019 mètres pour un Par de 68, sa conception par le célèbre architecte Harry Shapland Colt (1869 - 1951) présente la particularité d'offrir plusieurs trous relativement courts, ce qui, au premier abord, peut le faire paraître facile à négocier. L'impression est trompeuse car en fait, l'étroitesse des fairways, des roughs difficiles, de nombreux obstacles d'eau et des greens plutôt petits sont autant d'éléments qui imposent une réflexion permanente et de la sagesse dans le choix des clubs. Il faut en effet savoir sacrifier la longueur à la précision.

Engagé dans une démarche environnementale, le club est labellisé « Label Bronze » auprès de la Fédération Française de Golf (FFG). Une récompense qui valide les bonnes pratiques du Old Course en termes de préservation de sa faune et sa flore, mais aussi quant à la sensibilisation de ses joueurs aux enjeux de la biodiversité
