Description
Exhibition presentation
"À la découverte des dames sculptées et des petits hommes dans la pierre" (Discovering sculpted ladies and little men in stone) is a temporary exhibition aimed at young visitors, as part of the Arts and Culture Education program.
The aim is to explore the first human representations in art, particularly of women, through sculptures and engravings, from prehistoric Venus carved in mammoth ivory, through the feminine ideal of the Greeks, to medieval sculptures.
Much more than artistic works, these objects also tell us about ancient societies, and in particular how they perceived and conceived the female body.
This project is being carried out in collaboration with the Terra Amata prehistory museum (Nice) and Artesens (specialized in educational projects).
