The Centre des monuments nationaux conserves, restores and promotes almost 110 monuments dating from prehistory to the 20th century, including iconic properties such as Angers castle and the Château of Azay-le-Rideau, the Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, Carcassonne castle and ramparts, the Arc de triomphe, the Panthéon, the Sainte-Chapelle and the Hôtel de la Marine in Paris and various other gems throughout France, as well as opening them up to visitors and organising events at the sites in question. The diversity of the sites it maintains demonstrates the great richness of France’s heritage throughout the ages, from abbeys, castles and fortresses to prehistoric caves, archaeological sites and even modern villas.
