Description
The Argens flows in the department of Var, taking its source at Seillons-Source-d’Argens and joining the Mediterranean Sea at Fréjus. It stretches for a total of 115.6 kilometres. The Romans named the river “Argenteus” because of the “silvery white” colour of its shimmering waters. Since the dawn of time, farmers have tapped into this river and created irrigation channels that enabled them to cultivate the land. Even today, there are still many farmers at Roquebrune-sur-Argens. Some of their produce is showcased at the Maison du Terroir.
Tips :
Head for the Base du Rocher activity centre to get an original angle on the Rock from a canoe or kayak.
